Bucket Lists
Capture lasting memories!
Schedule a photo shoot with your pet. This can be a professional photo shoot, or just a few special images capturing your pet doing their favorite things. A walk on the beach, a snuggle on the couch, or lying in a sun beam. Take a video of your kitty making muffins or your pup wagging their tail for a treat. Try to capture your pet’s day to day activities - those are what you will miss the most.
Plan a special day!
Make a day all about your pet. Spend an extra long time snuggling in the morning. Cook up a special treat for breakfast. Take a walk in their favorite spot or a car ride with the windows down. Throw a going away party and invite all their friends (2 and 4 legged).
Make up a silly song about your pet!
Sounds silly, because it is. But it worked for us. Change the lyrics of a song you love or make up your own tune - there is no wrong way to do this. Years from now, that song will still put a smile on your face.
One more treat for the road!
If you are fortunate enough to choose the time and place to say goodbye and your pet still has their appetite, take the opportunity to let them indulge in all the things they always wanted but were never allowed to have. At the euthanasia appointment, nothing is off limits, even chocolate!
